OPEN DOOR sends staff to Puerto Rico, and also has a network of independent contractors in Puerto Rico for the purpose of providing home studies and supervising children who are placed on the islands by counties or other authorities.
We provide three types of home studies. One is a home study designed to give a clear picture of a potential resource family. The second is designed to be a little more thorough when adoption is the ultimate goal. The third includes a twenty-four lesson course for the resource parents which is taught in their home by our staff.
OPEN DOOR can also provide regular visits to a child who has been placed with a resource in Puerto Rico but whose legal custody remains with the county or agency in the mainland. Why pay airfare, hotel, rental car, and meals when OPEN DOOR already has staff in Puerto Rico?
